Want to know what a small town country girl really is?

I was just out taking the cover off of Ben’s pool in my pajamas at 10:00am while feeding Zander his morning snack!  Ha!  Now that’s country!

Well on with the reality tv roller coaster!

I started watching a new Housewives show.  The Real Housewives of New Jersey.  It’s great!  I love the ladies and it’s my second favorite Housewives show – Orange County being number one – but New Jersey is definately a close second!

I know that there lives are not “real” as they live the life of ease.  With money flowing readily for the spending and worries such as how many house keepers to employee in this crashing economy weighing on their minds I don’t know how they do it!

I only make fun because it’s entertaining!  I know they have more to worry about than that and some of them don’t even have a house keeper!  But really they should have a Real Housewives of Roseau County.  Then the world could see how “most” people live their real lives.  Worring about gas prices, grocery bills, daycare, childrens safety at school and on the bus and of course trying to keep a nice home and happy family while working 40+ hours a week.  Hmmmm…  Sounds like a hit right?  Not!  That is why I tune into these shows.  There lives and problems are much more exciting than mine, so why not zone out for awhile and live the life of a “real” housewife:)

My babies are growing up before my eyes

I have been a stay at home mom for the better part of two weeks and I gotta tell ya – I love it!  Other times (mostly in the winter) when I have had the opportunity to stay home for several days in a row I have been bored out of my mind!  Ben has had summer school, basketball camp and swimming lesson the las two weeks, so I took most of the days off of work to run him here and there.  I have been having a blast!  It doesn’t hurt that it’s been very sunny in the afternoon when we get home.  And of course I get to spend a ton of time with my baby Zander and watch him advance leaps and bounds.  I was afraid I would miss so much working full time with him at day care.  I have had the opportunity to stay home a lot this spring and summer – using all of my vacation for good!

When Ben was a baby I quit working full-time and was only a part-timer for the first year of his life.  I had to go back to work full time when money ran short and credit card bills ran high!  And as a result so did tempers!  Oh well it all worked out for the best.  I have a job now that really allows me to be a little more flexible than most 9-5 jobs.

My reality tv bubble has burst!

I started watching a new reality tv show called Bethany Getting Married?  No I am not questioning whether or not the name is correct – that is the title – a question.

Anyway she is one of the original Housewives of New York (another reality show) and she was on The Apprentice (another reality show) and I liked her on both, so I thought what the heck?

On the episode she was hiring a wedding planner.  The man was fashionable and a little fruity – exactly what you want in a wedding planner right?

Here is where my bubble burst!  We also watch a sitcom called Rules of Engagement.  On the last episode I watched a new character entered the scene and low and behold it was Bethany’s wedding planner.  What the heck?

So now you are asking yourself, doe she really think those shows are unscripted and real?  Not so much, but I haven’t seen an actor play a part of a real person before – this is a first.

Hey, maybe he does live in New York as a wedding planner and jets off to Hollywood or where ever the show is taped to do a sitcom.  It could happen.  What an interesting life!

Don’t judge.  You just never know what someone has gone through in their life or even in that day!  The prettiest, the richest, the poorest, the most deformed people have stuff going on in their lives that they may not have any control over.  Love them.  Help them.  Give to them.

Bible Camp

I don’t know if I have written about this before, probably but I don’t care.  Some of my favorite memories as a child are of Bible Camp and Vacation Bible School.

We always went to Galilee Bible Camp in Lake Bronson and it was sooooo much fun!  I want to go so bad and I just can’t wait for Ben to get old enough to want to go.  Now they have all these new fancy camps like Blue Water and Pathways and I am sure they are great, but when d you go to a camp and every year there are some of the same people and better yet some new people to get to know and hang out with, it is unbelievable!  I miss those days of ante i over and tag.  The shy looks over at boys you liked or the giggles shared by girlfriends.  Oh how I feel so old when I look back through that memory bank.

More work completed on the yard today!  Yeah!  It’s taken us so long to get anywhere on our monstrosity of a yard that now that the hard work is almost complete I am so excited!

We put a new flower/sitting garden in our front yard and have been working on the gazebo area.  It will be beautiful when it’s complete.  I wonder about the flowers I planted in the new garden.  I hope we will be able to enjoy them this year.  I know when I planted around the deck it took awhile for it all to fill in and look nice, but wow now it is fantastic!

I told Mitch we should really start an orchard in the back yard.  I was only half kidding.  It might be a great idea!  Lord know this would have been the year to plant trees since it was such nice weather to begin with and then two weeks of rain!  They would have thrived.  Oh well all in good time I guess.

I got all hoped up on adrenalin again last week when I started to think of a new project we should do.  But by the end of the day my real job had kicked my butt and sucked all of the adrenalin out of my body.

Don’t get me wrong.  I love my job.  However it is sometimes stressful, overwhelming, and very tiring.  I really need to start walking during the day to get some of the stuff out of my head.  It’s so terrible I dream about it at night.  I pray to God to take away the work dreams.  I hate that!

Parenting is hard!

Who tells you how to handle it when your seven year old boy developes an attitude mirroring that of a thirteen year old girl going through puberty?  No one!

What is school doing to my nice boy?

For even now it is only they
who fill an empty heart.
Glad creeps to a surface once dark.
Chosen by Him of all that is Holy
they bring peace to a heart unruly.
Our King of all kings has appointed
they who carry His message
near and far.
Listen within, are you a they?
