Babies, babies, babies

Well I can sure tell it is spring time by one account anyway (certainly not by the weather).  There are women having babies like crazy around here!

I would love to have a set of twins yet in my life.  If I did I would want them to be a boy and a girl.  I would name them Lizzie and Harry.  Lizzie after my Grandma and Harry after Mitch’s dad Harold.

I fell in love with the names and used them on a couple in one of my stories.  Is that weird?  I suppose it’s only weird if I do have twins:)  From my lips to God’s ears!

I hope everyone has a blessed day!

Today

I can’t even believe my lack of ambition today!  I have the day off from my real life job, so I thought I would give a go at my fantasy life job of writing.  Well as usual my morning burst of creativity washed out my afternoon burst!  I can’t even seem to stay focused on one topic.

Now I find out they are taking submissions for the Regional Ramblings news letter and the deadline is May 20th.  I have always wanted to put something in there, but have never known how to go about it.  Well today at the library there was a little flyer all bright green and reaching straight out at me.  Then I go to lunch with my mom and in the news and views what did I find?  A little add with the same advertisement.  I think it means I need to get my butt in gear and finish this story that I have been working on!

Here’s another little taste:

The next morning came to quickly for Lizzie.  Exhaustion filled her head with with fog.  Inspite of that she smiled to herself remembering her night of fun.  She rose slowly and began to get ready for her day with Harry.

Suddenly butterflies began to dance around her insides.

She waved her hand and huffed away the silly little girl emotion as she walked to her dresser.

She was a child the last time she had butterflies.  She got excited about things like leaving the island to go to town way back then.

Now there was a handsome man causing them to awaken.

She decided on the blue and white stripped sweater over her white tank top and tennis skirt.
She opted on her bathing suit underneath, because the weather man said it was going to be very warm in the afternoon.

“Oh I better grab some sunscreen too”, she said to herself as she checked off another item on her mental list.

As she stood in front of the mirror she smiled at the image starring back at her.

Her face was glowing.  Not since she found out her first children’s book submission had been picked for an award had she been this happy.

That award led to her agent who eventually led her to a full fledged writing career.

Could it be that Janelle’s wonderful party last night could have been the first stepping stone to her finding love?

“Oh”, she huffed again and waved her hand at the mirror.  “Why am I being so silly?  It’s been one night for crying out loud!  I hardly know any thing about the man.”

She fiddled with her ash blond pony tail one more time before grabbing the picnic basket and her bag to leave.

Benjamin!

We were riding in the car the other day and Benjamin looks over at me thoughtfully.  He says, “Mom did you already go to college?”  I said “Yes,” proudly and smiled at him.

Then he says, “So what are you then?”

Hmm…  Ok that caught me a little off guard!  What am I?  I am a mother, I am a wife, I am a cook, I am a housekeeper, I am a bus driver, I am an animal trainer, and sometimes I am a zoo keeper!

So what I really said was, “I work at Marvins and I am a Travel Coordinator.”  And he says, “No, but whaaat arrrre youuuu?”

Oh boy this is not going to go well no matter what I say if it’s not a doctor or a lawyer or a power ranger, so I just say, “I am the one who organizes everyones travel schedule at work.  I talk on the phone and play on the computer.

“Oh ok.”  He says without another word.

Ya know one of my co-workers tells a little story at the beginning of his presentations about his little boy and what he thinks his daddy does.

He asked his little boy one day after the little boy told his dad to have a good day at work, “What kind of place do you think I work at?”  And the little boy replied, “Mmm… Candy store?”

Well my co-workers says what else would he think.  I go to work and bring home treats!

I guess we can’t expect little minds to pick up on all of our insecurities.  If we think we do everything, but they only see part of it then in their mind that’s all we do:-)

Revelations!

My love for food slowed me down to a slow crawl in life.

My love for God has revved me back up!

I am walking for Jesus now and although it is not an easy route I know it’s the right route!

I pray for everyone that I know to come to know Jesus like I am getting to know him!

My friend Kathy

I have a friend who’s name is Kathy.  She is more of a spiritual guardian of sorts.  She was my son’s Sunday school teacher last year and that is when we started to become close.  Now I look forward to seeing her each time she graces me with her presence.  She is a writer too.  She is a great writer!  She writes a bible study for our group called Pearls of Faith.  It is really fantastic!  I am glad to know her and call her my friend.

My Father Says

And let Me lead the way
my Father says
For every single thing let us pray
my Father says
Fro praising and rejoicing I give you this day
my Father says
Spread my words to those who’ve strayed
my Father says
Enter my house do not be afraid
my Father says
It’s free you don’t have to pay
my Father says
The debt’s been paid on the cross your thoughts must lay
my Father says
I will endure your pain
my Father says
Thoughts should relflect the tomb where my son was lain
my Father says
He was crusified, died and buried to relieve your strain
my Father says
Remember Jesus when you can no longer deal with your pain

Hmmm…

Twitter, Shout life, Face Book, blogging!  It’s all becoming a little bit overwhelming.  Short of going on these sites at work I don’t have enough time to keep up with them all.  I mean I do like to sleep after all.

I believe spring has finally decided to show in northern Minnesota although woke up to a white ground yet again yesterday!  That was a surprise, not only to me I suspect.

I was just excitedly telling my co-worker that my frogs are out and I listened to them that morning.  I am guessing snow does not agree with frogs and birds and other animals who are thinking, “Did we come out at the wrong time and will spring ever get here?”

I just can’t wait to soak my bleach white face in the sunlight!  In the winter I am so pale.  A sun-kist look will do me good!  I actually have used the sunless tanning accelerator and it is not bad.  It works and it doesn’t turn you orange like the ones years ago did.  I suppose if you used to much or didn’t apply it correctly the same would happen.

My son is now six years old!  He is in the big time now.  Although the poor kid goes outside to play by himself.  He really needs a brother or a sister to play with!  We could not get him to play outside by himself before.  He would stay on the deck or not go out at all.  Now he is in his sandbox and on the verge of exploring the woods.  He we in yesterday, but came righ back out.  He is growing up that is for sure!

New poem

This haystacked needle
the impossible dream
to find the true love beatle
with cordial esteem.

The search brings little fruit
in fact many get the boot
the hunt grows weary
the demenor becomes dreary.

A cry out to Jesus for help
brings revelation about
what are we praying for
all that we ask is ours before.

Trust and it shall be
wants and desires switch to what He
wants them to be.

Zuba pants, ratted hair and Aqua Net!

What do all of those things have to do with anything you ask?  Well if you went to high school in the late 80’s you do not have to ask.  If you didn’t here is a little story about my first cassette.

I found in the Writers Digest how you can write about your first album, but you must have to be a member to submit, because I couldn’t find where to complete it.  So I decided to share it here!  It may make you, 1. smile because you know what I am talking about 2. laugh because you think I am way out there or 3. roll your eyes because you think I am the biggest dork ever!

Well I have news for you I wasn’t alone in that weight room!  It was packed with 7th – 12th graders all getting along and all listening to the same music.  Very cool I think!

The first cassette tape I ever bought with my own money was Vanilla Ice – Ice Ice Baby!  Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I remember exactly how I felt.  I was in the seventh grade attending Lake of the Woods high school.
I was working with my mom at a resort cleaning cabins on Saturdays.  I received my pay and we stopped at a gas station on the way home.
I saw it…I grabbed it…I purchased it!
Without a second thought of what else I could purchase with that hard earned money I paid $9.99 for the cassette.  I was so proud and excited!
The older kids would play that song blaring loud in the weight room after lunch and we would all jam out.  I remember the Zuba pants, and ratted hair like it was yesterday.  Man I miss my long ratted hair!  The smell of aqua net and sweaty boys hung in the air, but no one seemed to mind.
Today I still feel the same way when I hear it.  I remember almost all of the words and it brings me back to sitting on the seat of that rowing machine moving my head back and forth to the beat.  What a great time that was!

I am still here

I have not been on here for awhile and I apologize for that!  My friend at work, Nancy, is jet setting all over Europe for two weeks and I am filling in for her job.  Wow!  It’s way more work than just my job and I am doing both.  It’s been interesting and challenging.  My brain is very tired at the end of the day.  Not to mention when I get up in the morning I am dragging my behind around the house.

The morning is when things get done at my house.  I am a working fool early in the AM.  However if I can’t drag myself out of bed early enough then I don’t get as much done.  Of course coffee helps!

I am back on the strong go juice in the morning.  I still drink 1/2 decaf and 1/2 regular at work, but in the AM I need my pep!

I will post another excerpt from the story I am working later, but for now I hope a sunny day is in store for each and everyone today!  If the weather’s cloudy – make it sunny in your heart:)

“All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
